What a terrific site dedicated to such a lovely dog.

The loving relationship shared by Tammy and Jannet is so evident.

I have never visited a pet loss website so heartwarming to read.

And there are so many other good features too, like the email sympathy cards.

The My Tammy site is very best I have ever seen.
Reading about you and Tammy make me shed tears, not of sadness but because true love and devotion shone through the words you wrote. I know how deep a pain it is when your canine soulmate has to leave for the Rainbow Bridge. I too wish I could believe in such a place. I hope it is there. My Caroline died almost 4 years ago. I still have a great pain in my heart missing her and she lives in my heart. Everything I do for my present Golden Milliemay I do for Caroline.
Thank you for making this site. May all dogs be loved like yours. I wish a happy life for you with a lot of love from friends and family.
Love from Per and Milliemay

I like your site. I had a golden retiver when I was growing up he was a three legged dog due to an
automobile accident when he was one. His name was Yogi's Golden Beara and he lived for about 5 years
until one of our mean neighbors poisend (spelling?) him and a few of the other neighbors dogs...he was
just one of the meanest grouchiest old men around....anyway Bear was the best friend a girl and her kid
could ever have had...I still cry over him to this day...Momma has now gotten a new one and a half year
old golden retriever named Hanah she is a very beautiful girl but she is no Bear. Hope you have a
wonderful day!

Dear Tammy's mum,
I read your stories of tammy, when she was a puppy, when she grew up
& when she died. I have been bawling my eyes out over what
you've written. You must have loved each other very very much.
I know how you feel. I've had my jack russell terrier Sally for lest than 2 years
& already i don't know what i'd do without her. My mum & sister
also got her for me when i was sick. I love coming home every day to
my dog. It's a lovely page that you've made.

I discovered your HP in the Top Golden Retriever Sites. Now I am sitting here with tears in my eyes. You created a wonderful page for your beloved Tammy. I know what it means to lose a dog, believe me! The only thing that may help you is the knowledge that she had a great life with your love. And I believe in Rainbow Bridge!!

All the best to you! Janosh, who loves to lay on my body same way Tammy did, sends you a very gentle wet kiss!

Big hug (and of course I vote for Tammy's side!)

Dear Jannet,
I had tears in my eyes when I read Tammy´s story.
She was a faithful friend and still is.
So I just thought send to you a poem:
I go to the gate of heaven today, after we said goodbye
I began to miss you terribly, because I heard you cry
Suddenly there was an angel, and she asked me to enter heaven's gate
I asked her if I could stay outside for someone who would be late
I wouldn't make much noise you see, I wouldn't bark or howl
I'll only wait here patiently and play with my tennis ball
The angel said I could stay right here and wait for you to come
Because heaven just wouldn't be heaven if I went in alone
So I'll wait right here, you take your time, but keep me in your heart
Because heaven just wouldn't be heaven without you to warm my heart.
The author of this poem is unknown, this poem touched my heart deeply

I conclude that Tammy was in fact heaven sent and God meant for her to live as
long a life as possible by Golden Retriever standards.
When he was my only dog, Chivers, my Irish Setter, lived to be 14 years and 7 months.
My mum's Bichon is still going strong at 14 and my mum is nearly 87. Since I got several
Flatcoated Retrievers, they have died at younger ages, knowing that I wouldn't be without
another dog. My Louie is just 7 and had a rear limb amputated at the hip 5 weeks ago beause
of a malignant tumour. I am now doing all I can to win this battle with him, although I do
also have Dylan who is 4. The spirit of Chivers lives on right through to Dylan.
You can never replace Tammy, but I'm sure another Golden Retriever would be honoured to walk in her pawprints.

creid with me , laughed with me , she did everything with me
it's hard for people to realize how people feel through
these kinds of things but i know exactly how you feel and
i understand. but if you look at it on the bright side the
people that have had the great experience of feeling that
way about an animal are very lucky and will always have a

Hello, I am an unlikely person to be writing you because
I don't have any dog for a pet - just a tempermental calico cat
cat named Felicia. I play dixieland jazz cornet and
recently found myself with a haunting melody that I had
to put on paper. This melody became a song I wrote called
"Saying Goodbye is not Forever" and I searched the net
to see if there was already a song by that name.
Anyway, I found Your site which added to my inspiration
and belief that love does not die and loving souls
cannot part. Why should it be any different for Tammy?
I completed the song and lyrics and would like to send
you a copy if you are interested. I hope the melody and
lyrics might offer some degree of comfort in your loss.

Sincerely,

Bob Michalski

The tears rolling down make it difficult to type. I can
hardly see the keyboard. For the last 1/2 hour I have been
crying shamelessly. Your site is so touching, such a
wonderful tribute to Tammy.

I can feel every word you have written because I lost
my best friend in 1995. And I will never be able to get over
his loss. Chiku was a pedigree Golden Retriever. But I always
knew him as my little brother, my best friend. He was the
best part of my life for 16 and 1/2 years - he arrived when
I stepped into my teens and stayed with me all through high
school, college, MBA and when I started working. He loved me
like I know no one else can. Deeply, unconditionally. And I
loved him like I can never love anybody else.

I used to hug him and dread the day we would have to part.
But that day finally came. I couldn't go to office the next
day. And they said 'Oh you'll get over it, he was just a dog.'
But he wasn't. He was my whole life.

Hello,
We just lost out dog of 17 years yesterday. Its very early in the morning
here and I cannot sleep. I have been up for hours, I miss her so much, and don't
know what to do. It hurts, and I just want the pain to go away.
She was with me throughout most of my life. We got her when I was 11.
It seemed like she would be here with us forever. As stupid as it may sound
I never planned for this. She was a trooper. She was there with us for everything.
As the holidays approach, I am having a very hard time....thinking about even celebrating them.
Never has there been a day in the past 17 years that she was not involved in.

What do I do?

Jamie

Your story of Tammy was one of the most beautiful.touching stories
of the love that one can have for a dog that I have ever read.
You should write a book as you have a gift.I am so very sorry for your loss
and dont want to preach but you will see her again.I too am not religious
but I do bleieve in God.I have a little dog that I love with all of my heart
and soul.He has been sick and since I knew my time with him is going to end
I began to search for the answer..will I see him again. The story is long but
I am certain that we will all be reunited again. This is not wishful thinking
.Love like they give to us does not die it goes on.
Tammy is happy and healthy today and will always be yours.

I came across your site totally by accident...
I now sit here in complete tears, trying to be quiet because I don't want her to hear me.

Until late February my 13.5 yo lab was an active, happy, protective, animated companion.
Now, I often times to go to the bathroom. Have her on a pain patch in an attempt to get allow
other meds to work so she can have some mobility again.
We play, not out in the yard with the balls and bubbles, but on the floor, the playtime
often just ends up with my caressing her and talking with her. I cook her food myself and hope she eats it..
.bribe her with peanut butter and sherbert
so she will take her meds or just eat something. No one believed me before late February that she was closer
to 14 than 13. We have traveled all over the country and several foreign countries together.
We have been through hurricaines,
a divorce, an earthquake. We have hiked the Rockies, Yellowstone, the Smokies.
Canoes many a river (she has her own helmet and life vest).
As long as we were together during our adventures, there was never any fear.

Better now because I've "said" what I've been feeling and thinking for two months now,
thank you for making me remember all that she and I have shared, remembering her
unguarded affection for me always (even now). Beleive it or not I did smile a bit as
I shared our time with you. I need to remember that she will not be gone -
she will always be in my heart and mind. I have to tell myself we will have time together again..
.when my day comes she will know and be there waiting for me....maybe with her ball or her
life vest in her mouth.....thank you for sharing Tammy.

We lost our precious Golden, Bridget, on 4/15/03 at the tender young age of 7 yrs. 7 mos.
The night before, she was playing with my husband and her sister Golden, Hannah, in the back
yard like a puppy. She then came in and laid on my lap watching television during the evening,
begging for chocolate as we had every night for the previous 7 years. She woke up the next
morning slightly sluggish. She went downstairs, drank some water and then proceeded to
vomit slightly. We knew she didn't feel well, but thought that she got into something in the
back yard the night before, as she had done previously. My daughter and I left here at 8:40am
for school. When I got back at 11am, she was gone! This has been the most unbearable feeling
in the world! Although I knew that I loved her more than anything, I did not even imagine the feeling
I would have now. I feel very guilty over not staying with her that morning, I knew that something was wrong.
I wish I had taken her to the vet. They believe she died of an apparent heart attack brought on by a possible tumor.
We have not yet decided what to do with her remains......I can't bear to part with her.
My children are lost without her as is Bridget's sister Golden Hannah.
Hannah just lies around doing nothing. She's always had Bridget,
so she doesn't know what to do by herself. Bridget's life was cut in half...not nearly enough time to enjoy her fully.

That's how I happened upon your website.
I have been back and forth over the last week, trying to drum up the courage to sign your guestbook.
Yours is a wonderful site! Your Tammy sounds a lot like my Bridget.
Very smart and loyal. At this point, I have no idea how you go on from this type of loss. Thanks for your encouragement on the topic.

Reading this story brings to mind the friend who sticks closer than a brother,

I know because He's my best friend and companion--even more so

The story of how your Tammy died made me cry, it was so sad.
It reminded me of my family's beloved dog, Hobbie, who died at age 14, 4 days

We just lost our best friend, our german shepherd, Duke. He just turned one
in July of this year. He had a couple of bumps on him; we
were thinking he just had gotten bitten by something out
in the yard. My husband took him to the vet where they
took a biopsy. Three days later we learned he had cancer
and only 3 months to live. Within that one week, he went
downhill so fast. He didn't want to play anymore. Just
lay around. The day that we had to take Duke to be put
to sleep (September 25th - a day I will never forget,
I came home during my lunch hour and played ball
with him. He ran so fast to get that ball and bring it back.
You would never have known he was sick. Four hours later, we
took Duke to the vet to be put to sleep. It sure wasn't
easy. We didn't want to prolong his life as we knew he
wouldn't get better. Just today we got his ashes back. We put his favorite toy on
top of his urn for him. Duke was my husband's "shadow". He went
everywhere he did. We loved him very much and miss him
so much. We loved your site for your special dog. We know what it is like
to have lost a "best friend". Thank you so much for sharing

top of his urn for him. Duke was my husband's "shadow". He went
everywhere he did. We loved him very much and miss him
so much. We loved your site for your special dog. We know what it is like
to have lost a "best friend". Thank you so much for sharing
your story with us.

Unfortunately, All of us who have the incredible joy and comfort that owning
a dog brings, must endure the pain of their loss. Your memories well describe
the similar anguish that I remember for the loss of my Alsatian Agro.
I remember reading a philosopher who said the reason that dog’s have
such short lives is because we could not stand the grief of loss if they were
able to live a lifetime. Our hearts go out to you, and know that many of us
are truly united by the love we have for our dogs. We now own a golden retriever
Shogun and he is the apple of our eyes.
We hope that you too can feel this love for perhaps
a new companion despite the feelings for Tammy would never dissipate.

I have a 6 month old male Golden Retriever named Max. I
love him very very much. I read your story about Tammy and
I am so sorry! I understand how devastated you must have
been. If Max were to die, I would feel the same way! he is
my best friend! I don't know what we would do with out each
other! I am sure Tammy was the best of friend to you and she
will always be with you in your heart! she knows how much
you love her and I believe she knows you were there caring
for her when she died. Even though you weren't with her, she
knew how much you loved her.

Great Site!

Golden Retrievers are the best. I have two,
Bridgett my little girl, and I just bought a new little boy golden that I don't have a name for yet.
I just lost a golden, Riley, he was my best friend. Looking forward to keeping an eye on this sight.

I was reading about Tammy and it got to like the saddest part. I started
crying! I then sat there and help my golden for such a long time, I cant even think about her you know
And i cryed so much for that... Im gonna cry forever if i lose my baby. My Rosie is 5 years old and
I dont ever want her to go... That story touched my heart.
But really made me sad. Im so sorry about what happened.
And remeber she will always be in your heart!

What a beautiful site. When I was a baby we had a dog like
Tammy and she protected me from everything (not that I know as I was a baby).
I will pass the web address to my friends who have dogs as well... Hugs Monica
